One more song to round out this week
One more song to find the peace that I seek
One more song to reach the cycle’s end
One more song is on what it all depends.
One more song before I start the day
One more song before I’m on my way
One more song to close out this long phase
One more song to burn through this haze.
One more song before it’s time to go
One more song to encourage the flow
One more song is all I have to sing
One more song to see what the future brings.
One more song in memory of the girl
One more song to bring harmony to her world
One more song in honor of my brother
One more song remains to be uncovered.
One more song for the summer on the shore
One more song, followed by many more
One more song for the plowed-over fields
One more song for the city’s wounds to heal.
One more song into the atmosphere
One more song to conquer all the fears
One more song before the night is through
One more song to filter the false from the true.
One more song before the end of the page
One more song before the band leaves the stage
One more song for apathy to become love
One more song from below to above.
One more song to close out the week
One more song to find the truth that I seek
One more song to reach the story’s end
One more song is on what it all depends.

Sometimes, we just need one more gesture, a flourish before we can call our efforts complete. Other times we don't want the show to be over and we don't want to go home, so we call for another song to push off the inevitable just a little bit longer.
I wrote this song in 2000, during a writing spell in which I'd go down to Atlantic Highlands harbor, with its view of Lower New York Bay, and write a song per day during my lunch break. It was probably a Friday and I needed one more before I could call it a successful week. I need to do that sort of thing again.
I thought, for awhile, to include this in the Soul In Exile canon and place it just before the last song on the last album, but I decided against it and so it remains an outtake. Maybe one day I'll set it to music and record it.
