Well, there’s a battle line
There’s a party line
There’s a picket line
There’s a boundary line
There’s a political line
There’s a fortified line
There’s an invisible line
Where do you draw the line
Well, I’m waiting in a line
Standing in a line
Stepping out of line
Throwing in the line
Using that old line
Falling for the line
Reeling in the line
Swallowing that line
I
have made a resolution
to start a revolution
I’m gonna cross that line.
I don’t believe in uplines or downlines
I have no use for pickup lines or putdown lines
I’m not out of line and I don’t get in line
I wanna freely slip across the fine lines and thin lines
Fine line between heaven and hell
Thin line between taste and smell
Fine line between love and hate
Thin line between bent and straight
I
have made a resolution
to start a revolution
I’m gonna cross that line.
Ignoring any warning not to step over the line
Building whole megillahs out of throwaway lines
Getting my way without toeing the line
Speaking in my voice without blowing my lines
Go on and read between the lines
Build across the green line
Push it over the red line
See the screaming headline
Close to the borderline
Down to the waterline
Sign on the dotted line
This is the bottom line
I
have made a resolution
to start a revolution
I’m gonna cross that line.

Written in the mid-1990s, when I was living at the Jersey Shore and playing gigs all over the state and beyond, I had hoped I could introduce it to the band I was playing in at the time should they have decided to make the leap from covers to originals. With a fast tempo and a rhythm similar to The Clash's "Rock the Casbah," it would have been a perfect "nothing will hold me back" anthem, but alas, it was my own inertia that held me back. Never recorded or performed as of this posting.
