Now that you know just what it was
Do you still love me just because
Now that you know just what I hid
Don’t you wish that I still did.
I kept it deep inside
You said you wished I didn’t
Now you can’t abide
And you wish I’d kept it hidden
But it’s a part of me
You can’t try to disconnect it
And if you want me
Best learn to accept it.
Now that you know ...
For years I had to hide it
For years you wish I didn’t
So now you can’t abide it
And you want it to stay hidden
You’re so concerned with your image
Of what you think people are thinking
You’re scared your reputation’s finished
If anybody gets an inkling.
Now that you know ...
To it you were attracted
You were turned on by the mystery
But you ignored the fact
That it had a long history
Now you’re wishing it away
But you’ll never separate it
So if you want me to stay
You’d do best to embrace it.
Now that you know ...

One of my "twisted love songs" from the early 2000s, about people who keep secrets about their deepest selves hidden from their significant others, and what happens when such a secret is pried (or persuaded) out. Musically, I had a groove similar to Bob Marley's "Want More" in mind ... I had been playing with a local reggae band at the Jersey Shore for several years by that time and its influence was quite felt.
